The Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation (THF) has emphasized the importance of peace in its New Year message to its members.

The organization, which was established in 2016 in Lausanne, Switzerland by World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue, focuses on teaching taekwondo to refugees and displaced individuals. In its message, the THF thanked its members for their involvement and support and reminded them that taekwondo is about more than just winning, but also about ethics, discipline, and respect.

One notable moment for the THF in 2022 was when President Choue visited the Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan, which serves as a flagship project for the organization. This marked Choue’s first visit to the camp since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, and he described the progress made at the camp as a “benchmark” for both the THF and the Olympic community as they work to improve the lives of refugees through sport.
